1.0 video FrameRate https://framerate.tv PEACE & TURMOIL (The Cycle of Self Doubt) is a short film conceived and directed by Andy Needham. “As artists with creative minds we all experience what I call 'The Cycle of Self Doubt.' PEACE & TURMOIL explores those polar opposite of feelings when in any given moment, all can seem right in the world; we are calm and can find peace only to experience the crushing negative emotions that fuel our inner turmoil.”​​​​​​​ The film consists of two parts each linked with a short narrative. We begin in a meditative state of peace. The cracks are there, but under the surface. Slowly the self doubt creeps in and the inner turmoil is released. The film ends with the protagonist returning back to a peaceful state but with the scars of past experience on display. With every loop of the film, the cycle begins again. BACKGROUND The film dates back to 2018 when I created an initial conceptual style frame. Ever since it has been playing on my mind, taking multiple iterations until it finally found its true form. It can be extremely challenging mentally to pour out your creativity and share it publicly. It is important to identify those thoughts and feelings within you that build self doubt so that you can overcome them. I often have to tell myself; 'Doing something is better than doing nothing'. From the execution of an initial idea, something else can form if you don't let your head get in the way. If you allow your creativity to flow those feelings of self doubt will wash away.
