For Telstra’s App O’Clock social campaign, we teamed up with +61 and Bear Meets Eagle On Fire to create a series of playful, self-aware spots that give a deadpan wink to advertising itself. Brought to life in 3D by director Laurie Rowan, Colin lives in a finely crafted cuckoo clock and isn’t shy about voicing his frustration with the uninspired scripts he’s stuck performing. Blending CG with influences from stop-motion and puppetry, Laurie used the replacement method for Colin’s mouth and eyes to dial into every micro-expression. Every detail of Colin’s design was built to heighten the comedy and spotlight his oddly lovable persona.
