It brought together just about every animation technique in our toolkit – 2D and 3D animation, rigged characters, frame-by-frame and particle simulations. Every technique required technical expertise, artistic judgement and collaboration to bring it together seamlessly. And every technique played a part, but none of them are the point – they're the tools. The challenge was to use those tools to tell a story with honesty, humanity and emotion.
