Composed entirely from found objects, the piece aspires to evoke the tonal richness and dynamic range of a full orchestra while bypassing traditional instrumentation. The following is a behind-the-scenes glimpse from selected recording sessions. Among the many stainless steel mixing bowls that were recorded, this one stood out for its distinctive rattle. This element added a wonderfully unpredictable, high-end counterpoint to the low fundamental pitch. Using a custom friction mallet, an infinite loop of focused texture and resonant low end was produced. To complete the drone, an additional take was mixed in at half speed, one octave lower.
